Why TSR is a safe place to download custom content
1. We review our content carefully
We don’t just upload files and forget about them. We have a dedicated testing team who check that every download:
- is safe to use
- does not poorly impact performance
- doesn't contain oversized textures that can slow down your game
- doesn't contain malware or harmful scripts
- looks and behaves as expected in-game
From time to time, Electronic Arts releases a game update that can affect custom content. When that happens, we:
- perform batch fixes on our servers to update affected content
- add tools in TSR Workshop so creators can easily fix their own content
- alert VIP users through TSR CC Manager so updates can be downloaded automatically
If anything stops working correctly, we have a clear reporting process. You can let us know, and we’ll test and remove any content that no longer works as it should.
2. Our support team is here to help
Our support team are all big Sims fans (and many are content creators too). We aim to reply to queries within a few hours and we’ll always do our best to help you out, whether you:
- purchased something by mistake
- lost access to your account
- are having trouble with downloads or installations
- have questions about subscriptions or VIP
- need help with anything else related to The Sims or our site
3. Adverts and quality assurance
Advertising helps keep TSR free to use for everyone. To balance this with a good user experience, we work with trusted partners and set clear standards for the ads we show on the site.
Our standards for site adverts are that they're:
- PG-13 friendly
- safe (no malware)
- not intrusive (don’t obscure site functionality)
If you ever see an advert that doesn’t meet these standards, please report it to us with links and screenshots. We’ll contact our advertising partner to investigate.
4. Trusting your data and purchases
We take your privacy and your purchases seriously. We never share your data with third parties. We also don’t store, nor have access to, your payment methods - our subscription services are managed securely off-site, and even staff cannot see your payment details.
Any unused purchase made in error can be refunded (for example, if you subscribed on two accounts by mistake).
You can manage your subscription anytime in your account settings.
If you want your account deleted, simply contact us and we’ll remove it for you.
5. Your safety first
For site content such as user blogs and comments, we moderate what’s posted. We have protections in place so off-site parties can’t use TSR for unrelated or inappropriate content. There’s also a “report” option for comments and guest book entries.
For purchases:
- We use a PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant service (listed on the Visa Global Registry) to securely manage subscription payments.
- You can cancel your subscription at any time in your account settings.
- If you bought the wrong plan, purchased multiple plans in error, or bought a plan you haven’t used and no longer want, we’ll refund you in full; just contact us.
